Writing in Plain Language: Why Cognitive Accessibility Matters (ANCOR)

August 9, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

More often than we might realize, the way we write is not accessible to all people. However, there are ways to make communication clearer. One way to do this is to write using Plain Language. Plain Language uses short, to-the-point words and sentences. This helps make writing easier to understand. This benefits everyone, including people with disabilities, English language learners, and people who have different reading levels. Using Plain Language best informs all people about the issues that affect their lives. That’s why plain language is important for successful advocacy and public policy.

This webinar will provide an introduction to Plain Language and related accessibility practices. Participants will learn about the principles and practices of Plain Language writing. By attending, you will leave with an understanding of why cognitive accessibility matters, and how to start using Plain Language in your organization’s communications.
