TOPIC: NAVIGATING CRISIS INTERVENTION IN HUMAN SERVICES
MORNING SESSION DESCRIPTION: The Bradley Center follows the Sanctuary® Model of trauma-informed care and is a certified Sanctuary provider. Developed in 1985 by psychiatrist Dr. Sandra Bloom, the Sanctuary® Model promotes children’s safety and recovery from adversity by actively creating a trauma-informed community all around them. This includes advocating for trauma awareness and its effects among their families, teachers, therapists, and health care providers. Melanie Karpinski, Director of Residential Services, will provide information about the Sanctuary® Model and how The Bradley Center has successfully implemented the model.

AFTERNOON SESSION DESCRIPTION: As Human Services Professionals, we must provide staff with the critical skills needed for crisis prevention and de-escalation. Strategies and techniques focus on the care, welfare, and safety of individuals served and staff with evidence-based de-escalation approaches that are person-centered, trauma-informed best practices. This session is a panel of two direct professionals who are certified trainers who will talk about the benefit and pride in working with individuals and staff to decrease the trauma of restraint and calling law officials.
