ADVC Launches Vaccination Campaign Focusing on Older Adults and People with Disabilities

As the nation enters cold and flu season, USAging, through the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative (ADVC), has launched a national marketing campaign to encourage older adults and people with disabilities to roll up their sleeves this fall and winter. Launched this spring with funding from the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL), the USAging-led ADVC is working with nearly 1,600 grantees and partners to inform and educate consumers about the importance of vaccinations—and to connect them to local organizations that can help them get vaccinated. USAging’s “You’ve Got This” campaign is aimed at encouraging older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers, and families to stay healthy by getting vaccinated.

ADvancing States, an ADVC national partner, is excited to promote the “You’ve Got This” campaign. The ADVC grants, led by USAging and funded by ACL, are helping communities stay healthy by focusing on those who need it most—older adults and people with disabilities, particularly those from historically marginalized and underserved communities in which vaccination rates are low. As a national partner, ADvancing States will support its state and territory members who receive grant funding. Through the ADVC, USAging has funded Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), Centers for Independent Living (CILs), Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), and a range of other community-based organizations to hold events and to provide education—all with the goal of helping the most vulnerable in their communities get vaccinated. To achieve this, ADVC grantees are prioritizing historically marginalized and underserved populations, including African Americans, Latinos, LGBTQ+ communities and individuals for whom English is not their primary language.
