Celebrated each July, Disability Pride Month is a focused opportunity to listen to and elevate the voices of people with disabilities in the pursuit of rights and justice. Inspired by other communities, such as Black Pride and LGBTQIA2S+ Pride awareness events, the first Disability Pride Day event was held in Boston in July of 1990 – the same month that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law.

Then, learn more about the history of the disability pride flag, watch one or more of these documentaries on disability rights and inclusion, and read one or more of the many great books written by people with disabilities and their allies.
Stay tuned to ANCOR’s communication channels as we will be sharing resources and events throughout the month!
